My name is Ana Zuidema (Ah-nah Zy-deh-muh) and God’s plan and purpose for my life included creating me perfectly according to His will with no forearms, some rather unique hands, and no legs.¬†
I was born in Albania into a Muslim family. Soon after I was born, I stayed at an orphanage until I was adopted. After I was adopted by a Christian family, I stayed in contact with my biological family. When I was eight, we told my biological family that I had become a Christian. They disappeared from my life. I got angry with God and began pushing Him away.
God however, kept pursuing and asking me, “Do you surrender to me? Are you going to follow my ways?” I basically told Him no. Finally one night God asked me again if I would surrender to Him, and I knew that if I was going to experience peace in my life, it was only going to be through Him. I wasn’t going to find peace in anything worldly. I gave my life back to Christ. God started to remind me of a promise that He would never leave me nor forsake me. “No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5).
Soon after I gave my life back to Christ, God began to help me realize that my leglessness was an opportunity to bring Him glory. And apparently in His amazing sovereignty, He has chosen to save others through my leglessness. I have no idea why He chose me, but I am humbled and eternally thankful that He did, leglessness and all. Now it’s my desire to tell others about this big God and how He hasn’t distanced Himself to not notice or care about the pain and struggles we deal with. Rather, on the contrary, He is instead walking beside us through it all. By the grace of God, I have been given opportunities to travel around sharing these truths that I have learned. I would love to come to your church, school, or special event and encourage you as well¬†
